BS EN 55011 applies to industrial, scientific and medical electrical equipment that operates in the frequency range 0 Hz to 400 GHz. The standard also includes domestic and similar appliances designed to generate and use radiofrequencies.  BS EN 55011 covers emission requirements related to radio disturbances in the frequency range of 9 kHz to 400 GHz, and 9 kHz to 18 GHz for ISM RF applications.

How does it work?

BS EN 55011 first looks at the frequencies designated for ISM use, before explaining the different classification systems. The standard then outlines the limits of electromagnetic disturbances, measurement requirements and special provisions for test site measurements. It also looks at the radiation measurements in the frequency range of 1 GHz to 18 GHz, safety precautions that should be taken and the assessment of equipment conformity.

Who should buy it?

Manufacturers of industrial, scientific and medical electrical equipment
    Product testers
    Noise inspectors
    Regulatory bodies
