Visual Acceptance Criteria for Inspection of Aluminum Alloy Welds (See Notice 2 for Replacement Information)

Scope

This standard provides visual acceptance criteria for fusion welding of aluminum alloys made by any of the following processes: Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Electron Beam Welding (EBW), Plasma Arc Welding (PAW), and Shielded Arc Welding (SMAW).

Notes

Claudia's Notes:
This standard included illustrations depicting the various weld discontinuities.  It was intended to be used with MIL-W-45205 and MIL-STD-1946.  It included the maximum allowable size for designated categories of weld discontinuities.

The standard was cancelled and replaced by AWS-D1.2.  Additionally, TACOM Drawing 12472301, "Ground Combat Vehicle Welding Code – Aluminum," may be used.
