This specification covers the engineering requirements for electroless deposition of low-phosphorus nickel on various materials and the properties of the deposit.

A question came up the other day on what "Noncurrent" means.  The term is used by SAE to let users know that the document is not recommended for new design.  However, you can continue to use the standard should you so choose.  And of course, it is perfectly OK to use for replacement purposes.
