Using the ICS Codes to Find Standards by Category

The ICS (International Classification for Standards) is a scheme much like the Dewey Decimal System. Standards are grouped by the various subjects they address. It is a three-tiered system, with the top tier (01, 03, 07 and so on) dividing standards into 40 general topics. The two lower tiers can both contain various standards, with division into subsets as you move from tier 2 to tier 3.

You'll also find information on ICS code categories on the bibliographic data for specific standards, like the ISO and IEC documents.
