This specification covers medium-hard-drawn round copper wire for electrical purposes. The material shall be copper of such quality and purity that the finished product shall have the properties and characteristics prescribed. Tensile test and electrical resistivity test shall be made to conform to the requirements specified.

ORDER

Scope

1.1 This specification covers medium-hard-drawn round copper wire for electrical purposes (see Explanatory Note 1).

1.2 The SI values of density and resistivity are to be regarded as standard. For all other properties the inch-pound values are to be regarded as standard, and the SI units may be approximate.

1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
