Standard Test Method for Wash Test of Asbestos
The following bibliographic material is provided to assist you with your purchasing decision:
Scope
1.1 This test method covers the procedure for determining the fines content of asbestos fibers by washing with water on a specified sieve.
1.2 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard.
1.3 Warning
1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. For a specific hazards warning, see 1.3.
Significance and Use
The wash test gives a rapid and simple evaluation of the fines content.
The equipment required and the technique followed are both simple and undemanding.
The fines content obtained by this test method approximates the equivalent screen classification obtained by Test Methods C1121 and D2589.
