Human Engineering
Human Engineering
Scope
This standard establishes general human engineering design criteria for military systems, subsystems, equipment and facilities.
Notes
Claudia's Notes:
Human Engineering is the same as Human Factors Engineering. It is used by the Military to:
1. Achieve required performance by operator, control, and maintenance personnel,
2. Achieve required manpower readiness for system performance,
3. Achieve required reliability of personnel-equipment combinations, and
4. Foster design standardization within and among systems.
Requirements in MIL-STD-1472 are expressed in the International System of Units (SI). As a convenience, the metric units are accompanied by their approximate customary system equivalents (in parentheses). Angular measure is expressed in degrees unless it is necessary to specify fractions of a degree where milliradians are used.
